At the regular Council Meeting on May 22, 2024, at 7:00pm virtual (Zoom Webinar platform) and livestreamed at lantzville.ca. District of Lantzville Council will give first reading to the following proposed bylaws:
“District of Lantzville Zoning Bylaw No. 180, 2020, Amendment (Small Scale Multi Unit Housing) Bylaw No. 369, 2024” and “District of Lantzville Transit-Oriented Areas Bylaw No. 370, 2024”
PURPOSE
1. To amend “District of Lantzville Zoning Bylaw No. 180, 2020” to comply with the minimum density requirements in Bill 44 – 2023: Housing Statutes (Residential Development) Amendment Act, 2023.
2. To introduce a proposed “District of Lantzville Transit-Oriented Areas Bylaw No. 370, 2024” to comply with the minimum density requirements in Bill 47 – 2023: Housing Statutes (Transit-Oriented Areas) Amendment Act, 2023.
PER THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT
S.464 (4) A local government must not hold a public hearing on a zoning bylaw proposed for the sole purpose of complying with section 481.3 [zoning bylaws and small-scale multi-family housing].
S.467 (1) If a local government decides not to hold, or is prohibited from holding, a public hearing referred to in section 464 (2), (3) or (4) [public hearing not required, or prohibited, for certain zoning bylaws] on a proposed zoning bylaw, it must give notice in accordance with this section.
