Earlier this month, B.C.’s Environment Minister, Barry Penner, encouraged people in the province to partake in celebrations in commemoration of 100 years of provincial parks, and the Prince Rupert Community Arts Council and Prince Rupert Community Band will be doing just that by hosting a concert and various other nature-related fun activities taking place on Kitson Island on July 2 and July 3.

Over the weekend dancers from Spectrum City Dance took to the stage to present their year-end performance over two days.

There wasn’t a seat left in the Lester Centre of the Arts when the Dance Academy of Prince Rupert presented “Born to Entertain” last week, the dance group’s year end performance that showcased an arrangement of different dance styles including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, musical theater, acrobatics, and more.

Citizens in Prince Rupert will have a number of opportunities to observe the Naden Band of the Maritime Forces Pacific the Naden Winds, this week during Seafest weekend.

The Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir kick-off their tour of northern BC at the Prince Rupert Performing Arts Centre in front of a good-sized crowd that decided to miss a Canucks game to see them. They sang a wide range of songs, from hymns to Gilbert and Sullivan.

Music students from Ian Lihou’s Ring System Music Studio and Tom Lehar’s Summit Sound Lounge joined together last weekend to put on a performance that helped raise money to replace the Lester Centre of the Arts floor.

The conference space at the Highliner Inn was packed with music lovers on May 29 as the Prince Rupert Rotary Choir presented the 21st annual Sweet Serenade concert.

This Saturday the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir will be delighting the ears of its audience members at the Lester Centre of the Arts where the group will be kicking off their first ever Northern BC tour.

Last week students from Charles Hays Secondary School and Prince Rupert Secondary School joined together to put on a talent show showcasing the ability students from both schools possess, while at the same time raising over $1,200 for Red Cross to assist the victims of the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that affected Japan.
