On April 4 West Fraser Announced that it would be selling its Skeena Sawmill assets to ROC Holdings Ltd., a subsidiary of a Chinese conglomerate.

The first ship of the next cruise season is scheduled to arrive in Prince Rupert on May 13 and the port authority is preparing a much more engaging and fun experience for passengers when they get here.

Last week the Prince Rupert Northern View was informed that two other candidates had entered the May 2 election in the Skeena - Bulkley Valley riding competing with Rod Taylor of the Christian Heritage Party, Clay Harmon of the Conservatives, Roger Benham of the Green Party, Kyle Warwick of the Liberal Party and Nathan Cullen of the New Democratic Party.

City Council has given Mayor Jack Mussallem the green light to sign a memorandum of understanding between the City of Prince Rupert and the Prince Rupert Port Authority related to improving cruise ship passenger experience in Prince Rupert.

On April 7 the Lax Kw’alaams First Nation filed a court document with its response to the claims made by Kitkatla in the case involving Kitkatla, the City of Prince Rupert and the band over the sale of Watson Island.

Leading into the election the Prince Rupert Northern View will be sending questions out to the candidates on different topics of interest to the North Coast from different stakeholder groups.
